We’re delighted to welcome Jill Corbyn as our guest presenter for this month’s Neurodivergence Forum. Jill will introduce a practical, neurodiversity-affirming approach to care and support, grounded in the latest thinking and lived-experience-led frameworks. Drawing on the Autistic SPACE Framework, her work centres on moving beyond traditional, behaviour-focused models and towards approaches that prioritise relationships, autonomy, and emotional and sensory safety.
In this session, Jill will explore what it truly means to take a neurodiversity-affirming, human rights-based approach to care. She will consider how we can better understand sensory needs, communication differences, and emotional regulation, and why shifting from “managing behaviour” to understanding internal experience leads to more meaningful and effective outcomes. Drawing on practical insights, she will also highlight how environments can be shaped to support predictability, acceptance, and psychological safety.
Attendees can expect a thoughtful and practical introduction to co-creating care and safety plans that centre the individual’s voice, preferences, and autonomy. The session will also introduce a toolkit that professionals, carers, and services can use to embed these principles into everyday practice — supporting more inclusive, ethical, and effective care.
