Portobello Behavioural Health works with agents, management and production companies to support individuals experiencing mental or behavioural health problems who are currently unable to access residential treatment due to their work commitments.  Through careful planning, working in partnership we provide support which is tailored to the individual’s specific needs. We work with clients in the film, television, stage and music industries and are accustomed to tailoring our work to the needs of shooting, touring and travel commitments.

Typically our work with entertainment clients entails:

  • Comprehensive case management, to ensure that competing interests are understood and managed whilst not compromising the client’s welfare;
  • Coaching, by our specialist team, both highly trained and experienced at working with clients in the entertainment industry. We can provide coaches both for short sessions as well as providing 24/7 support, accompanying clients on tour or on set, both domestically and abroad;
  • Therapy, provided by one of our experienced clinicians to ensure that the underlying issues affecting the individual are being tackled and fundamental change can be achieved. Given the complications of schedules, our therapists can see clients both from one of our offices in London or Guildford or through online sessions.

Our network of contacts within the behavioural health sector means we can facilitate and accompany quick referrals to treatment centres or other relevant professionals. Our connection with vetted centres, across the world, ensures we can always find a suitable option which provides a high level of care with the utmost discretion.

Our track record of work in the entertainment industry has helped both artists and their wider team to keep schedules, avoid costly delays and ensure that recovery and progress are being achieved.

In addition to the direct services we provide for our clients, we can also help raise awareness and deliver staff training on issues relating to mental health and addiction. This can be invaluable for management companies, producers and lawyers seeking to understand the most effective way to support or intervene when clients they work with are experiencing mental health difficulties

Where are you based?

We operate from two offices, one in London and one in Guildford, Surrey. However, we provide support to clients across the world through case management, coaching and therapy. This may include remote or online support or it may mean our coaches travelling to clients in their home country.

How much does therapy/coaching/case management cost?

The prices for our services vary depending on what is required. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and we can explain what PBH can provide and how much it will cost.

Do you have a coach who suits my lifestyle/background/sexuality/gender/age/ethnicity etc

We have a wide range of coaches we work with from a whole range of backgrounds. It is rare that we are not able to find a match that suits our clients. If a client is particularly nervous we can arrange a free introductory meeting to see whether it will be a good fit before starting to work with someone.

Do you do therapy online?

Yes. We have a number of therapists who specialise in working with clients online. Get in touch and we can match you up with the most suitable member of the team.

Do you do online coaching?

Yes. We are able to support clients online. This works better in some instances than other, usually depending on the presentation and the person involved. Get in touch and speak to a member of the team and options can be discussed.

Do you accept medical insurance?

We do not accept medical insurance.  In some instances, clients are able to reclaim the cost of our services from theirinsurance companies but we do not deal with insurance companies directly. If additional information is required by a client in making an insurance claim an administration fee is payable.

Can you refer me to a treatment centre/psychiatrist/psychologist?

We work with a variety of providers and professionals in the addiction and mental health field. We often work alongside these professionals to provide wrap-around care. If PBH is not the right service for you, or we feel we are not the right fit for you we will happily make a recommendation to another provider that may be able to help.

Are you CQC registered?

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) oversees clinical and medical support in the UK.  Portobello Behavioural Health doesn't provide clinical or medical services and so we are not CQC registered. Therapists are registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, The Heath and Care Professions Council or a similar accrediting body. Case management and coaching are unregulated, non-clinical services. As such there is no governing or regulatory body that oversees this work. Any concerns, issues or complaints should be addressed to

What do I do in an emergency?

Dealing with mental health problems is turbulent and characterised by repeated crises. PBH is not an emergency service. If you find yourself in a situation where someone needs medical assistance or there is an imminent danger you should call emergency services. If the situation is contained and you require rapid response in the form of case management or coaching please get in touch.
